Playing

Playing a circuit bent instrument is, at best, challenging. The original toys were never intended for professional musical use, and the modifications, while enhancing the creative potential, usually makes them highly unstable.

As extreme pitching is part of most circuit bending, the resulting instruments will almost never fit into any musical scale. The instrument may have (small and pink!) piano keys, but the output is deep into noise territory.

When performing with circuit bent instruments it is also a good idea to bring extra instruments - to be sure that at least some of them will work on stage!

As you can figure from the above, playing only circuit bent instruments is inviting chaos into your performance. I happen to play in a circuit bending-only orchestra. One of very few such ensembles on the planet. Now you know why there are so few of us!
